Thousands of passengers have remained stuck in 40km tailbacks on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway since early today due to heavy rush of traffic.
A large number of vehicles were seen stranded on the highway stretching from Eliotganj bridge of Daudkandi upazila to Meghna Bridge.
A driver of a covered van Badal Mia said that he could not reach Dhaka before 6am, so he will have to wait at the highway before Kanchpur all day as there is restriction of such vehicles to enter Dhaka City.
The tailback was triggered by the renovation work on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Sonargaon, Narayanganj, said Assistant Sub-Inspector of Daudkandi Highway Police Station Kamrul Hasan.
