Police on Sunday expressed hope to submit the charge sheet soon in the Bangladeshi born US citizen blogger Avijit Roy murder case.
On February 26 in 2015, Avijit, founder of Mukto-Mona blog was hacked to death, his wife Rafida Ahmed Bonya wounded in a militant attack at Dhaka University campus during the month-long Amar Ekushey Book Fair.
"Ten people were arrested in connection with the Avijit murder case and three of them gave confessional statements under section 164 this end," Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) Chief Monirul Islam told newsmen about progress of the investigation into case.
"Involvement of five more people including the top leader of the banned Ansar-Al-Islam sacked Major Syed Md Ziaul Haque alias Zia and they are still at large. The charge sheet in the case will be submitted soon with managing to capture two of the fugitives," he added.
"Avijit was killed three years back for his write up and the Detective Branch (DB) of police was given the charge of investigation into the matter immediately after the killing. The case has been shifted to the counter terrorism unit three months ago," he said.
"Mystery behind the killing was unearthed with capturing two intelligence wing and one military wing members of Ansar-Al-Islam, Mozammel Hossain Alias Saimon, Abu Siddique Sohel and Arafat alias Shams alias Sazzad," he also said.
