BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s lawyers are taking preparation to file an appeal petition with the High Court on Tuesday next following received of the certified copy of the verdict in Zia Orphanage Trust case.
According to source, Khaleda’s lawyers Sanaullah Mia, Zakir Hossen Bhuia, Ziauddin Zia and M Helaluddin Helal received the 1168-page certified copy of the verdict on Monday.
The 632-page certified copy of the verdict increased by 546-page after transforming it into cartridge paper, source said.
Lawyers Sanaullah Mia and Zakir Hossen Bhuia told Jago News that we received the certified copy of the verdict. Now, we will file an appeal petition with High Court seeking Khaleda's bail in the case on Tuesday next.
Confirming the news, Mokarrom Hossen, bench clerk of Dhaka special Judge Court-5 told Jago News that the 1168-page certified copy of the verdict have been given to Khaleda Zia’s Laweyer.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s lawyers were waiting for the certified copy of the verdict to file an appeal for Khaleda Zia’s release.
Earlier on February 8, a Dhaka special court-5 convicted Khaleda Zia and sentenced her to five-year rigorous imprisonment in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
She was then sent to the old central jail at Nazimuddin Road in the city.
