Former MP Mohammad Yusuf, who was suffering from septicaemia, passed away on Sunday morning.
He breathed his last around 8am at Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka.
Communist party leader Yusuf was an elected Member of Parliament from Rangunia constituency in 1991 by defeating the then war criminal and NDP chief late Salauddin Quader Chowdhury. Later he joined with Awami League.
Yousuf was admitted to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital on January 7 as per as the directive of prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
The PM asked the deputy commissioner of Chittagong to take necessary steps for Yusuf’s treatment.
On January 9, Yusuf was shifted to CMH in Dhaka for better treatment.
