Muhith wants to retire in December

Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Saturday said he will go for retirement from the ministry in December this year.

Though he did not say anything clear about whether he would retire from politics or not.

He said this while addressing at Annual Business Conference of Agrani Bank at hotel Le Méridien in the capital.

On Friday, Bikalpadhara Bangladesh President AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury torn into Nurul Islam Islam Nahid and AMA Muhith for ‘destroying’ the education sector through question paper leaks and the banking sector through loan scams, respectively.

Muhit’s decision came one day after the former Bangladesh president comments.

He also asked the bankers to properly scrutinise all the project proposals they get and follow the know-your-client formula to make the loans risk-free.

Presided over by Agrani Bank managing director & chief executive officer (CEO) Mohammad Shams-Ul Islam, the programme was also attended by State Minister for Finance and Planning MA Mannan, Bangladesh Bank governor Fazle Kabir, Financial Institutions Division senior secretary Md Eunusur Rahman, and Agrani Bank board of directors chairman Dr Zayed Bakht.
