Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Tuesday staged a sit-in programme in front of it's central office at Naya Paltan as part of its countrywide pre-scheduled programme demanding unconditional release of the party chairperson Khaleda Zia.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other senior leaders also took part in the one-hour long sit-in programme.
Besides, leaders of BNP-led 20-party alliance also participated in the programme demanding the release of Khaleda Zia.
The programme started formally at 11am and ended around 12.05pm.
On Thursday last, a Dhaka special court sentenced Khaleda to five years imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
