Five people, including two foreigners, died due to suffocation after a fire in an apartment in Sharjah, officials said on Monday morning.
The nationality of the victims are: One Pakistani woman, one Indian man, one Arab man and two children, believed to be Arabs.
The bodies have been taken to Al Qassimi Hospital.
Besides, eight people, including one from Comoros Island, were injured in the fire.
The fire gutted an apartment on the first floor of the building in Al Buteenah area, Colonel Sami Khamis Al Naqbi told Gulf News.
The fire started after 1am. The building has been sealed and investigation is on to find out the cause of the fire.
The building owner has provided temporary accommodation to tenants.
