BNP’s human chain seeks Khaleda’s release

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Monday staged its pre-scheduled countrywide human chain programme demanding the ‘unconditional’ release of the party chairperson Khaleda Zia.

Hundreds of leaders and activists of the party took part in the programme in front of National Press Club at 10:30am amid tight security.

They were chanting different slogan for the release of Khaleda Zia.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Vice chairman Samsuzzaman Dudu, Advisor to Chairperson Abdus Salam, Joynal Abedin Faruqe, Publicity secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anny and Abdus Salam Azad also took part in the human chain programme.

Besides, expressing solidarity, leaders of BNP-led 20-party alliance also participated in the human chain programme of BNP.

On the other hand, huge law enforcement agencies members were seen around the press-club centering the programme. But they didn’t hinder the programme. 

On Thursday last, a Dhaka special court sentenced Khaleda to five years imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
