Bangladesh High Commissioner to London Md Nazmul Quaunine presented his Letters of Credence to Irish President Michael Daniel Higgins on Thursday in Dublin as a non-resident ambassador of Bangladesh to Ireland.
At a formal ceremony held at the President's residence called Aras an Uachtar in in Dublin, ambassador Md Nazmul Quaunine conveyed the greetings of the President and the Prime Minister of Bangladesh to the President and the people of Ireland, said a released issued here today.
Quaunine expressed his pleasure for being appointed as Bangladesh's ambassador to Ireland and hoped that relations between the two friendly countries would strengthen further during his tenure.
President Higgins warmly welcomed the ambassador to Ireland and expressed hope that the existing bilateral relations would achieve further impetus.
During the meeting, the President was briefed about the current trends of socio-economic development in Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The Irish president praised the government of Bangladesh and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for Bangladesh's socio-economic progress in the recent years and for accommodating and managing over half a million 'Rohingya' people.
