Boris Johnson in Dhaka to discuss Rohingya issue

British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson arrived here on Friday afternoon on a two-day visit aimed at elevating bilateral ties between the two strategic partners and discuss the Rohingya issue.

During his visit, the UK foreign secretary is expected to discuss Rohingya issue and the matters relating to the cargo ban imposed on Bangladesh by the UK government in 2016, a foreign ministry official said. 

Besides, he said, the issues related to Brexit and visa will be discussed with importance during this visit, reports BSS.

Boris is expected to call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and hold a bilateral meeting with his Bangladesh counterpart AH Mahmood Ali on various issues.

He will also visit Rohingya camps in Cox's Bazar to have first-hand inside on the plight of Rohingya people, who took shelters in Bangladesh fleeing ethnic violence in Myanmar's Rakhine state after August 25, 2017.
