BNP on Thursday announced a two-day countrywide demonstration programme for Friday and Saturday in protest against the jailing of its chairperson Khaleda Zia.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the programme from a press conference at its Nayapaltan central office, UNB reported.
He said the party leaders and activists will stage demonstrations across the country, including all the district towns and upazila headquarters, in a peaceful manner as per directive of their chairperson Khaleda Zia.
Fakhrul said Khaleda asked the party leaders not to take any imprudent programme and register their protests peacefully.
Khaleda Zia was taken to Old Dhaka central jail from Special Court-5 at Bakshibazar in the city as the court sentenced her to five years’ jail in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
