The chairperson of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Khaleda Zia started her journey for Sylhet on Monday morning.
Khaleda left her Gulshan residence around 9.15am.
She will offer fateha at the shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal (R) and Shah Poran (R).
She would spend the night in Sylhet Circuit House and leave for Dhaka on Tuesday morning.
The district BNP president Abul Kaher Chowdhury Shamim said: “It is not an election campaign, she will just visit the shrines of two great saints.”
On February 8, Special Judge Court-5 will announce a verdict in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case against Khaleda, her son Tarique Rahman and four others.
Khaleda Zia will be disqualified from participating in the next general election if she is found guilty.
