President of Switzerland Alain Berset arrived in Dhaka on Sunday on a four-day official visit to Bangladesh.
Berset was met by his Bangladeshi counterpart President Md Abdul Hamid after arriving at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 1:23pm.
During the official talks, the two countries will discuss ways to further strengthen economic and cultural cooperation along with underscoring the current status of bilateral relations.
On Tuesday, Berset will visit the Kutupalong Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar district where Switzerland is providing humanitarian aid to the forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals, who took shelter there since last August following violence in Myanmar's Rakhine state.
During his stay in Bangladesh, the Swiss President will also meet members of the civil society, Swiss businesses active in Bangladesh, and will visit Dhaka Art Summit of which the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia is a partner.
