Russia would give about 700 rare books on various subjects, including literature, culture, history and science to Dhaka University (DU) very soon.
Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh Alexander Ignatov informed DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman during a courtesy meeting at his office on the campus on Sunday, said a DU press release here.
The Ambassador said such type of collaboration specially with Dhaka University would be enhanced further in the future, the release added.
During the meeting, they discussed matters of mutual interest and exchanged views regarding how to strengthen further the existing friendly ties between Bangladesh and Russia.
They also discussed about a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to be signed soon between DU and MGIMO University, Russia.
Under the MoU professors, scholars, students, publications, textbooks and research materials would be exchanged between the two universities.
At the meeting, the Russian ambassador was accompanied by Director of Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Dhaka Alexander P Demin and Attache of the Embassy Ekaterina Tyurina.
The VC thanked the Russian Ambassador and his entourage for their visit to the university and expressing keen interest in providing help and cooperation on academic and research activities of the university.
