A total of 1, 27,198 Bangladeshi pilgrims would be able to perform the holy hajj this year, Religious Affairs Minister Principal Matiur Rahman said here on Sunday.
Among them, 1, 20,000 pilgrims would perform the hajj in private management while the number of pilgrims under the government management would be 7,198, the minister told a press conference at his ministry.
“We have already signed a hajj agreement with Saudi Arabia successfully. The agreement was signed on January 14," he said.
Bangladesh Religious Affairs Minister Principal Matiur Rahman and Omra Affairs Minister of Saudi Arabia Dr Mohammad Saleh Bin Taher Bentan were present, among others, at the agreement signing ceremony.
Like in the previous years, Biman Bangladesh Airlines will carry 50 percent hajj pilgrims while Saudi Arabia Airlines will carry the remaining pilgrims.
Matiur urged the private hajj management agencies to be more careful and responsible about the hajj pilgrims so that they can perform hajj without any hassle.
