Pranab leaves concluding his 5-day visit

Indian former president Pranab Mukharjee today left Dhaka after wrapping up his five-day private visit.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam saw him off at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, among others.

Pranab arrived here on Sunday and started his tour by paying rich tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Bangabandhu Museum at Dhanmondi 32.

During his visit, the former Indian premier met with President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Pranab attended a special convocation ceremony at Chittagong University where the CU authorities honoured him with a Doctor of Letters (D. Litt) degree. He also visited his ancestral home at Raozan in Chittagong.

He attended a number of programmes, including the closing session of the 'International Bengali Literature Conference' in the city.

His daughter Sharmista Mukherjee, among others, accompanied the former Indian President.

Pranab Mukherjee, who served as the 13th President of India, went on retirement in July last year.
