Super heroin Suchitra Sen was remembered in Pabna today in her 4th death anniversary.
A commemoration was held morning at Pabna Govt. Girls High School where Suchitra studied. Pabna district administration and Suchitra Sen Smriti Sangrakhon Parishad jointly organized the commemoration with the help of Cultural Affairs Ministry.
Suchitra Sen was born on April 6 in 1931 at Bhanga Bari village in Belkuchi Upazila of present day Sirajganj district in Bangladesh. The Partition, that created India and Pakistan in 1947, brought her family and her to West Bengal.
She was appeared opposite Uttam Kumar in Sharey Chuattor' of Nirmal Dey in 1950s. Uttam and Suchitra became the icons for Bengali movies for more than 20 years. She was the first Indian actress who received an award at an international film festival in Moscow in 1963.
Deputy Commissioner Jasim Uddin presided over the ceremony while Additional Police Super Gautom Kumar Biswas, Ram Dulal Bhowmic, Marufa Monjury, Kazi Atiur Rahman and Shibjit Nag spoke among others.
A floral wreath was placed at her portrait in the town on the eve of the commemoration. Suchitra died on this day in 2014.
