Customs Intelligence officials have detained a person with 43 gold bars weighing 4.28 kg from Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
The seized gold bars are worth Tk 2.14 crore.
Md Anwar Hossain, a resident of Mohammadpur, was detained on charge of illegally carrying the gold bars when he arrived at the airport from Singapore on Monday night.
Confirming the matter to Jago News, Director General of the Directorate of Customs Intelligence Moinul Khan said: “The gold bars were hidden in Anwar’s underwear.”
