Bangladesh Food Safety Authority (BFSA) has issued a warning on consumption of baby milk products, cautioning that the products are contaminated with salmonella agona bacteria.
The products are available on the market under the brand names Baby Care 3, Baby Care MF, Milumel, Picot and Celia Brand.
The BFSA issued the warning against the backdrop of media reports that the baby food formulas of Lactalis shipped to 83 countries including Bangladesh were contaminated with salmonella, which can cause diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps in 12 to 72 hours after infection.
The BFSA said that it is aware about the incident and already suggested the Bangladeshi importer of the products to issue necessary notice so people do not consume the products and take necessary steps in case of consumption of the contaminated milk formulas.
JS International, the importer and distributor of the brand, has already started withdrawing the products from the market, the BFSA said.
