The High Court on Monday imposed restrictions on parking all kinds of vehicles at New Market area in the capital for next six months.
The court also issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain why their inaction to restrain the parking of vehicles in the New Market should not be declared illegal.
The HC bench of Justice Quazi Reza Ul Hoque and Justice Mohammad Ullah passed the order after hearing a writ petition.
Imtiaz Ahmed, a resident of Old Dhaka and also president of rights organization Shomaj er Proti Jubo Ruddho, submitted the petition to the HC saying that people are suffering seriously due to the entrance of different vehicles in the New Market and parking those inside the market.
