The three-day first phase of Biswa Ijtema ended on Sunday with the Akheri Munajat seeking peace for the country and its people on the banks of the Turag River at Tongi.
Hafez Mohammad Zubayer, the Imam of Kakrail Mosque in Dhaka, conducted the Akheri Munajat in Bangla language.
Before the concluding prayer, a sermon guiding Muslim devotees was delivered by Maulana Abdul Matin.
Hundreds of thousands gathered at the banks of Turag River to join the final prayers of the Ijtema, the second largest Muslim congregation after the Hajj.
The second phase of the Ijtema is scheduled to begin on January 19 at the same venue and it will end on January 21.
