Customs officials arrests a Japanese national along with 11 kilogrammes of gold worth about Taka 5.50 crore from a flight of Regent Airways at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in the early hours of today.
Airport customs sources said the arrestee was identified as Kengo Shibata, according to a news agency.
On a tip-off, a team of the customs searched Shibata when he was crossing green channel at the airport around 1.10am and found 11 gold bars, each weighing one kg.
The Japanese citizen was coming to Dhaka from Singapore, the sources added.
