Bangladesh to face Namibia in ICC U-19 WC Opener Saturday

Bangladesh U-19 team will face Namibia in one of the four opening day's matches in the ICC U-19 World Cup scheduled to begin on Saturday (January 13) in New Zealand.

The match will begin at 3.30 am (BST) at Bert Sutcliffe Oval, Lincoln.

Although defending champions West Indies will play the inaugural Group A match at Bay Oval in Tauranga on the opening day of the event, which runs from January 13 to February 3 featuring 16 teams, splitting into four groups, across seven venues in four cities - Christchurch, Queenstown, Tauranga and Whangarei.

In the day's other opening day's fixture of the tournament, Afghanistan will play against Pakistan while Zimbabwe against Papua New Guinea. All the three matches will begin at 6 am (BST).

The youth Tigers want to do better the result what they showcased in the last edition of the showpiece event (2016) at home turf.

The group A consists with New Zealand, West Indies, South Africa and Kenya while India, Australia, Zimbabwe and Papua New Guinea are placed in Group B.

Bangladesh, England, Namibia and Canada have been drawn in group C while Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Irelands and Afghanistan are in group D of the event.

Bangladesh will play against Canada U-19 in their second fixture of the group-C at the same ground on January 15. The young Tigers will meet their English counterparts in their third and last group encounter at the Queenstown Events Center in Queenstown on January 18 next.
