The High Court (HC) today stayed Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) circular which sought application for taking part in spectrum auction for 4G mobile phone service.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice Naima Haider and Justice Zafar Ahmed passed the order after holding hearing on a writ petition filed in this regard, BSS reported.
The court also issued a rule asking BTRC to explain why the court shall not declare the circular illegal.
Wireless internet provider Banglalion Communications Limited filed the writ, terming the circular contrary to the broadband guideline, 2008.
The telecom regulatory body was scheduled to issue 4G license on February 14 after holding of spectrum auction for three different bands on February 13.
