State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Zahid Maleque today said there is no shortage in the supply of medicines at all public hospitals and patients will receive their medicines as usual.
"The ministry has given directives to the hospital authorities to provide proper healthcare services among the patients... essential drugs were sent to the hospitals," he told the newsmen at the ministry.
He also told the newsmen about the activities of Thalassemia control and prevention project in Bangladesh. "The government has started diagnosis the fetus free of cost to prevent the disease," he said.
The state minister urged all to check blood before marriage to prevent the future generation from thalassemia.
He called for creating awareness among the people to get rid of this deadly but preventable disease.
