14 more cases against Khaleda transferred to temporary court

The hearing of 14 more cases against BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia will be held at makeshift court in the capital’s Bakshibazar area.

Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs on Monday issued a gazette in this regard.

Signed by joint secretary Bikash Kumar Saha, the gazette said the government is declaring the building constructed on the field adjacent to former Dhaka Central Jail and Government Alia Madrasa as temporary court and the hearing of the said cases will be held there.

The cases has been transferred to temporary court for the sake of maintaining law and order and safeguarding her security, the gazette said. 

In this regard, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq said that the government has no political agenda behind transferring cases against BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. 

According to the gazette, of the 14 cases, nine were transferred from Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court, three from Special Judge Court and two from Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court.

Right now, Zia Orphanage Trust and Zia Charitable Trust graft cases are under trial at the same makeshift court.
