Arrest warrant issued against Khaleda Zia

A Comilla court has issued arrest warrants against 55 persons, including BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, in a case filed over killing of eight bus passengers by torching the vehicle on February 3, 2015.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Begum Joynab Begum passed the order on Tuesday.

On February 3, 2015, miscreants hurled petrol bombs at the bus on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Chauddagram of the district during the BNP-led 20-party alliance’s countrywide blockade.

Later, police filed the case against 56 BNP and Jamaat activists.

Police submitted the charge sheet against 78 persons on March 6 this year. The law enforcers included Khaleda and other party men in the charge sheet.

BNP Standing Committee members Rafiqul Islam Miah, MK Anwar, Vice Chairman Shawkat Mahmud, Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Joint Secretary General Salahuddin Ahmed and former Jamaat MP Syed Abdullah Md Taher are also accused in the case.
