Cyclone Komen getting weak

Cyclone Komen has not yet hit the coasts of Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar. The met office said it may cross the coastal area at evening or later. The cyclone may get weaker by shedding rain by this time, they added. Earlier on Thursday morning met office warned the cyclone may hit at afternoon. However, low lands of the coastal area have swapt away by a surge of five feet higher than normal tide at different points, local sources said. Local administration has moved the people of the coastal area to cyclone shelters nearby. Meanwhile, two men reportedly died by crashed under broken trees in Saint Martin’s and Golachipa of Patuakhali in the stormy weather. All maritime ports in Bangladesh have been asked to hoist danger signal number 7 and all fishing boats, trawlers and marine vessels over the North Bay have been advised to remain in shelter till further notice. Under its influence squally weather is continuing over North Bay, adjoining Coastal area of Bangladesh and there islands and the maritime ports. Maximum sustained wind speed within 54 kms of the cyclone centre is about 62 kph rising to 88 kph in gusts or squalls. Sea will remain very rough near the system centre.
