Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Friday said the insurance sector is moving forward across the country due to the development of economic activities over the years.
“Insurance is a step against risk. We can get a scenario of the country’s economic development from the expansion of the insurance sector,” he said while speaking as the chief guest at an inaugural ceremony of the two-day “Insurance Fair-2017” at Kabi Nazrul Auditorium in the city.
State Minister for Finance and Planning MA Mannan attended the function as the guest of honour while Additional Secretary of the Financial Institution Division Manik Chandra Day was present as the special guest. Chairman of the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority M Shafiqur Rahman presided over the function.
Muhith said insurance has already reached in different upazilas across the country as the government is providing supports to expand this sector. Muhith also handed over cheques for Taka six crore to the customers of Jiban Bima Corporation, Green Delta Life Insurance, Guardian Life Insurance, National Life Insurance, Fareast Islami Life Insurance, Meghna Life Insurance and Delta Life Insurance for their insurance claim.
