Death row war crimes convict Mawlana Motiur Rahman Nizami, ameer of the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has filed a review petition against the death verdict handed down to him.Lawyers of Motiur Rahman Nizami filed the review petition with the concerned department of Appellate Division around 11am on Tuesday.Confirming the matter, Barrister Najib Momen, son of Motiur Rahman Nizami, said Nizami prayed to the apex court to acquit him of all the charges in which he was found guilty.Nizami filed the petition 14 days after the SC released the full judgment of his death penalty.According to the rule, a war crimes convict can file a review petition in 15 days after receiving the full verdict.The SC on January 6 this year upheld the International Crimes Tribunal-1 verdict that sentenced Nizami to death for his crimes against humanity during the country’s 1971 Liberation War.
