A chairman aspirant of upcoming union parishad election was gunned down at Gyalenga union council of Ruma upazila in Bandarban district early on Monday.The deceased was identified as Shanti Tripura, also a member of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity.Confirming the matter, Officer-in-charge of Ruma Police Station Shariful Islam said a gang of miscreants picked up Shanti from his house and took him to Adika Para at about 3:30 am.Later, the criminals shot him and fled the scene, leaving him dead on the spot.
