The government has started the registration programme for hajj pilgrims for the first time in order to make the hajj management system more transparent.Religion Minister Matiur Rahman inaugurated the programme on Sunday at Secretariat. The registration programme would be continued till May 30, he confirmed.According to source, under the system, one would have to pay Taka 30,000 as a ‘balloti hajj pilgrims’ to perform the hajj under government management and Taka 30,752 as a non-balloti hajj pilgrim to perform the hajj under private management.A total of 1,01,758 hajj pilgrims would be allowed to perform hajj this year.For final registration, a hajj pilgrim would have to deposit Taka 3, 60,028 for performing hajj under government management and Taka 3, 04,903 under private management. The payment will have to be made by May 30.
