Khaleda to place self-defense statement on Nov 30

A Dhaka court today asked to appear BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia before the court on November 30 for finishing her incomplete self-defense statement in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case filed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in 2008.

Judge Md Akhtaruzzaman of the Special Judge Court set up at Bakshibazar in the old city recorded her partial statement for sixth time and fixed November 30 for recording rest of the statement.

Khaleda Zia earlier gave statements in self-defense on October 19, October 26, November 2 and 9.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the graft case against six people including Khaleda Zia and her eldest son Tarique Rahman on charges of embezzling over Taka 2.10 crore from the orphanage trust fund.

The case was filed with Ramna Police Station on July 3 in 2008.
