The government has taken an initiative to set up 100 technical schools and colleges in the country to supplement the ongoing efforts of promoting technical education, according to a top official of the education ministry.

“These 100 schools and colleges will be established as part of the government's plan for setting up 389 more technical schools and colleges across the country in phases,” Secretary of Technical and Madrasa Education Division Md Alamgir told the news agency.

He said the enrollment for technical education increased to 14.0 percent this year from only 1.0 percent in 2009, reports BSS.

“We are expecting that the enrollment rate will be 30.0 percent by 2030, with setting up of more institutions for technical education,” the high official said.

He said the government would also establish polytechnic institutions in 23 districts for both male and female students while all the eight divisional headquarters would have separate polytechnic institutions for women.
