2 to die, 8 get life terms for killing NSU student

A court here today sentenced two persons to death and eight others to life term imprisonment for killing a student of North South University (NSU) after kidnapping in 2014.

The death-row convicts are -Bappy and Sumon, reports BSS.

Additional District and Sessions Judge AMB Mahmudul Haque announced the verdict this noon, a court official said.

According to prosecution, Touhidul Islam Lipu, the slain student, had gone missing on August 31, 2014. Later, the kidnappers demanded Taka 3 crore to Lipu's father Wahidul Islam as ransom.

His father filed an abduction case with Kushtia Model police station on September 4 accusing three friends of Lipu.

Later, police arrested the three and they confessed that they killed Lipu after abduction.
