The High Court (HC) today issued a rule asking authorities concerned to explain in four weeks as to why it shall not declare illegal the 2016 gazette fixing 13 years by March 26, 1971, as minimum age of Freedom Fighters (FFs).
A High Court division bench comprising Justice Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque and Justice Mohammad Ullah issued the rule after holding hearing on a writ filed by one Khondoker Shahidul Islam, according to a news agency.
The court asked eight officials including secretary of Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, secretary of Ministry of Public Administration and director general of Jatiya Muktijoddha Council to reply to the rule.
The government on November 10, 2016, issued the gazette, fixing definition and age limit for Freedom Fighters.
