The trade volume between China and Qatar has exceeded 5 billion U.S. dollars by increasing 50 percent, Qatar Tribune reported on Sunday.
Head of Economic and Commercial Office at the Chinese Embassy in Qatar said Qatar has become the second largest supplier of LNG to China.
He made the remarks in an interview with the Qatari English version newspaper Qatar Tribune on Sunday.
He expected that the volume of LNG imports from Qatar would be further raised in the future due to the demand for energy is growing at a rapid pace in China.
He stressed that China is considering the Qatari LNG as a major component of its energy mix on a long-term basis.
“The price of Qatari LNG is very competitive worldwide. Qatar is also a very reliable supplier of LNG. All these factors make Qatar an important energy trade partner for China,” Song added.
On the other side he said that China is seeking for increasing its exports especially of building materials to Qatari market.
Many big companies from China are displaying their products at the ongoing “Made in China” exhibition in Doha. This shows the growing interest of Chinese companies in Qatar, the Chinese envoy said.
