Journalists’ memo to home ministry for Utpal’s safe return

Journalist leaders today submitted a memorandum to the home ministry demanding prompt steps for the safe return of journalist Utpal Das who has been missing for over a month.

Before submitting the memorandum, leaders of Narsingdi Journalists Association, Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) and Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) addressed a rally in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the city, according to a news agency.

BFUJ President Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, Secretary General Omar Faruque, DUJ President Shaban Mahmud, General Secretary Sohel Haider Chowdhury, DRU General Secretary Mursalin Nomani and DRU former General Secretary Manir Hossain Litan, addressed the rally, among others.

From Jatiya Press Club, the journalists brought out a silent procession towards the secretariat. A delegations of the journalists handed over the memorandum to the home ministry at 1 pm.
