It must be scrutinized to see who is obstructing BNP: Quader

The ruling party Awami League’s general secretary denied the BNP’s allegations that the government is obstructing the people from attending the public rally organized by the political party and said “it must be scrutinized”.

Obaidul Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, came up with the remark while replying to a query from newsmen after the 25th meeting of the National Road Safety Council at a city hotel.

“It has to be scrutinized whether the government bars the BNP to hold the rally or they bar themselves as they are opponent of themselves”, the minister said.

Speaking about Khaleda Zia’s ‘important message’ to be given from the rally, the minister asked whether the BNP wants a supportive government or a caretaker government for the next polls.

Quader asked Khaleda to make their demand clear in this rally.

About BNP’s demand for caretaker government, he said there is no scope to meet their demand as per the constitution.

He reiterated that the next general polls will be held under the present government.

BNP, the main opposition party which along with its allies boycotted parliamentary elections in 2014, started its rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital on the occasion of “National Revolution and Solidarity Day” on Sunday.
