BNP gets permission for rally on 23 conditions

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has allowed Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) to hold rally in observation of “National Revolution and Solidarity Day” at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital on 23 conditions.

BNP’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Saturday confirmed the matter to the journalists at a press conference at the party’s Naya Paltan office.

On Friday last, BNP announced to hold the rally at the Suhrawardy Udyan on Wednesday marking what it said the civil-military ‘uprising on November 7, 1975’.

Later, the party deferred it to Sunday for various reasons.

The ruling Awami League, however, describes it as the ‘Day of Massacre of Freedom Fighters’.
