Police arrested a member of Industrial Police of Ashulia and three fake members of detective police on charge of demanding ransom from a man after making him hostage.
Of the arrestees, one was identified as Makbul Hossian, Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of Industrial Police and kingpin of the gang.
Police, however, seized a microbus and arrested its driver.
Sources said a gang led by ASI Makbul took a man on a microbus and demanded Tk 20 thousand as ransom from his family members. Later police arrested them red handed from Bypile area while they were conducting such crime.
In this connection, Sana Shaminur Rahman, director of the Ashulia Industrial Police-1 told Jagonews24.com that, “Makbul have been suspended from his post after incident.”
