SQ Chy likely to lose post in BNP

Convicted BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury is likely to lose his position as a Standing Committee member in his party in connection with the final verdict from the Appellate Division of the Supreme court challenging the death penalty and other sentences handed down to him set to be delivered on Wednesday. BNP is considering taking the post away from SQ if he found guilty in the verdict Wednesday, a party leader on condition of anonymity said to Jago News. The party may make its comment over SQ and also take the final decision about him after the verdict, he added. The four-member bench headed by Chief Justice SK Sinha is set to pronounce the judgment on SQ at 9:00am Wednesday. On October 1, 2013, the International Crimes Tribunal-1 sentenced Salauddin death penalty on four charges, 20 years in jail for three charges and five years in jail for two other charges for his crimes against humanity committed during the 1971 Liberation War.
