15 held over forgery in DU ‘Gha’ unit entry test

A total of 15 youths, including two Dhaka University (DU) students, were detained for their alleged involvement in question paper leakage and illegally using electronic devices in “Gha-Unit” admission test of the university today.

"During 'Gha' unit entry test, invigilators caught 12 aspirants from different centers while they were receiving answers using electronic devices", DU Acting Proctor M Amzad Ali told newsmen, according to a news agency.

He said three other youths, including two DU students, were also caught by Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police for their alleged links with the question paper leakage.

Two DU students were Mohiuddin Rana, a second year student of Physics Department and Abdullah Al Mamun, a first year student of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Department. Other one was identified as Israk Hossain Rafi.

Twelve other detainees are Nur Mohammad Mahbub, Farhadul Alam Rafi, Abdullah Al Mukim, Risad Kabir, Asaduzzaman Minarul, Istiak Ahmed, Joy Kumer Saha, Rezowana Sheikh Shova, Masuka Nasrin, Tarikul Islam, Nasirul Haque Nahid and Miraj Ahmed.

A mobile court sentenced 12 detainees to one month imprisonment each, Amzad Ali said.

The test was held in 86 centers inside and outside the campus from 10 am to 11 am.

A total of 98,054 applicants from science, business studies and humanities groups appeared in the test to fill up 1,610 seats.
