Stocks perform mixed on large cap securities

Stocks performed mixed on Monday with major indices finishing flat on higher activities of some large cap securities despite declining the daily transactions.

The rising major sectors were insurance, fuel and power. A total of 125 securities of the large-cap group moved up due to lower activities.

The border DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 4.89 points up at 6,013.84. But the Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 closed the day with 3.34 points down at 1,318.79 and with 4.39 points down at 2,189.11.

The day's trade value at DSE decreased to Taka 502.96 crore from Sunday's Taka 620.13 crore and the daily trade fell to 14.09 crore shares from 17.35 crore shares of the previous session.

At DSE, out of the day's 330 securities, prices of 154 securities closed higher against 135 losing issues.

The major gaining issues were Asia Pacific Insurance, Eastern Lubricant, Rahim Textile, ICBEPMF1S1 and ILFSL while the major losing companies were Mithun Knitting, Fine Foods, PRIME1ICBA, Style Craft and Prime Life.

Uttara Bank topped the turnover list followed by City Bank, BRAC Bank, Shahjalal Bank and Exim Bank.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 32.89 points down at 18,668.79.

At CSE, 239 issues were traded. Of those, 122 closed higher and 96 closed lower when 1.30 crore shares worth Taka 32.78 crore changed hands.
