4 of a Rohingya family killed by wild elephants in Cox’s Bazar

Four member of a Rohingya family were trampled to death and two others injured as wild elephants attacked at Balukhali refugee camp in Ukhia upazila of Cox’s Bazar at 1am on Saturday.

The deceased are Taslima Begum, 35, wife of Muhammad Siddiq, her daughters Rubina Akter, 11, Sabekun Nahar Sabuka, 9, and son Muhammad Hamim, 5.

The injured Muhammad Siddiq and his two years old son Shopon were sent to the hospital.

A local person and Chhatra League leader Ibrahim Azad said: “A group of wild elephants suddenly attacked the Balukhali refugee camp and killed four people on the spot while they were sleeping.  At that time two people were also injured.”

Confirming the matter to the Jagonews24.com, Mizan, Inspector of Ukhia Police Station, said: “On information police rushed to the spot.”
