Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim chose to field first against South Africa in the second Test in Bloemfontein. Like he had said after winning the toss in Potchefstroom, he wanted his pace bowlers to take full advantage of the grass cover on the pitch, but once again it seemed as though Mushfiqur was avoiding giving his batsmen an early test.South Africa captain Faf du Plessis said that he would bat first nine out of ten times on this pitch and that it was not as bad as it seemed. There was grass on the surface but it was in the short-of-a-length region, and likely to be more assistance to the home team's fast bowlers. Both teams were forced to make at least one change each, with Tamim Iqbal and Morne Morkel out with injuries. Bangladesh brought in Soumya Sarkar for Tamim, while Taijul Islam, Rubel Hossain and Subashis Roy were also drafted in. Apart from Tamim, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taskin Ahmed and Shafiul Islam were left out.South Africa included Wayne Parnell in place of the injured Morne Morkel. It was the first time since 2007 that South Africa were playing a Test without one of Dale Steyn, Vernon Philander or Morkel.South Africa 1 Dean Elgar, 2 Aiden Markram, 3 Hashim Amla, 4 Temba Bavuma, 5 Faf du Plessis (capt), 6 Quinton de Kock (wk), 7 Andile Phehlukwayo, 8 Wayne Parnell, 9 Keshav Maharaj, 10 Kagiso Rabada, 11 Duanne OlivierBangladesh 1 Imrul Kayes, 2 Soumya Sarkar, 3 Mominul Haque, 4 Mushfiqur Rahim (capt), 5 Mahmudullah, 6 Sabbir Rahman, 7 Liton Das (wk), 8 Taijul Islam, 9 Rubel Hossain, 10 Mustafizur Rahman, 11 Subashis RoySource: ESPNcricinfo
