Shakib appointed as World Cricket Committee member

The Marylebone Cricket Club (M.C.C) wishes to appoint Bangladesh’s all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan as a member of the World Cricket Committee.

The MCC informed Shakib of his official appointment through a letter dated Sept 18.

The new committee assumed its duties on Oct 1.

The committee is chaired by former England captain Mike Gatting. The departing chairman was another English cricket captain, Mike Brearley.

Shakib posted a picture of the letter of appointment on his verified facebook page.

He wrote in the photo caption: “I truly feel humbled that you have chosen me to be a member of the Prestigious MCC World Cricket Committee. Thank you for bestowing me with such an honour.”

The prestigious MCC, founded in 1787 is the owner of the Lord’s cricket ground and has the sole authority on the laws of the game of cricket.
