The bodies of three more Rohingya people, including two children and a woman, who had gone missing after a trawler capsized in the Bay of Bengal in Ukhia upazila on Thursday, were recovered from Patiatek in the upazila on Friday, raising the death toll to 20, UNB reported.
“The bodies of 20 Rohingya people, including that of 12 children, have so far been recovered,” said Chailau Chakma, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Ukhia-Teknaf circle.
On Thursday, at least 17 Rohingya people died as a trawler carrying around Rohingyas, who fled to Bangladesh amid persecution in Myanmar, sank in the Bay around 3:30 pm amid bad weather.
Besides, 10 people suffered injuries in the incident and they were admitted to Sadar Hospital.
