Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who underwent a successful gallbladder surgery in the US capital of Washington on Monday, is now well and digitally cleared seven urgent files on Thursday.
"The prime minister is now well ... she is keeping round-the-clock contact with her office in Dhaka and digitally disposed of seven important electronic files (e-files) on Thursday," PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told BSS from Washington this morning.
On Thursday, PM's son Sajeeb Wazed Joy said the prime minister was recovering well.
"I want to thank everyone for all their concerns regarding her health as well as for her birthday wishes ... she is doing well," he said in a Facebook post.
Joy, also the ICT Adviser to the prime minister, wrote: "My mother underwent the surgery on Monday night to remove her gallbladder ... the surgery was performed by a surgeon friend of mine at a local hospital."
He also said it went extremely well and she came home the very next morning.
Joy also wrote: "Today is also her birthday ... we will not be doing much since she is still mostly on bed rest."
Sheikh Hasina travelled to Washington from New York on September 22 after attending the 72nd session of United Nations General Assembly.
The prime minister arrived in New York on September 17 to join the UN's annual event.
