Finance Minister AMA Muhith today said Bangladesh will be a poverty-free country by 2024 as the country is moving forward to achieve the goal, reports BSS.“Although the deadline of the United Nations for poverty alleviation is 2030, we will be able to end poverty by 2024,” he said while speaking as chief guest at a seminar arranged by the Sadhana Sangsad, marking its silver jubilee at a city hotel.The minister said the way the country is now moving forward, it will become a developed country by 2041.“I believe that we will be able to make the country a middle-income one by 2021 and a developed one by 2041,” he added. He said people of some special categories, including the autistic people and the senior citizens, always depend on the government in every country.“Only 7 percent Malaysian people depends on the government and I believe that by 2024, Bangladesh will also reach that ratio,” he added.Sadhana Sangsad Secretary General Delwar Hossain Bhuiyan presented a keynote paper titled “Overcoming Possible Risks of Travelling Abroad, Increase in Remittance and Role of Agent Banking and Sadhana Sangsad” at the seminar.In his keynote paper, Delwar placed some proposals including developing skilled workers and entrepreneurs in the agriculture sector and generating overseas employment by giving them training and investing forex in profitable sectors.Vice President of Sadhana Sangsad Rownak Jahan delivered the welcome speech.
